Liam Johnston

2010 – 2026

Liam Patrick Johnston, of Dieppe, passed away suddenly on March 4, 2026 at home. Born in Moncton, he is the son of Andrew Johnston of San Diego and Sarah Johnston (Doucette) of Moncton. He is survived by his older brother, Thomas, his maternal grandparents Greg and Francine Doucette, paternal grandparents Dean Johnston and Casey Gaeth, aunts and uncles Melissa Doucette Page (Brian), April Parker (Lorne McDonald), Deanna Johnston (Enrique Anaya), Matt Johnston (Chrissy), and Kathleen Allende. He was lucky to be surrounded by loving cousins in Moncton who were more like siblings, Madilyn Page, Kaleigh Page, Alexa McDonald, Miles McDonald, and Bailey McDonald, as well as to have those he enjoyed visiting in the United States: Rachel, Hannah and Lydia Johnston, and Emma Joy, Olivia, and Thiago Allende. He was also blessed with an extended family Mathieu Haché, Gabrielle Haché, Gilles and Édith Haché, Véronic, Chris, Sarah and Isabelle Horne, Caroline and Alessandro Corazza.

When not out in the garage forging, leatherworking, woodworking or planning out his next project, Liam could usually be found playing Minecraft online with his friends, watching Gilmore Girls with his mom, or out exploring in the woods with his dad. He loved school; he was the only teenager that didn’t flush ice cubes down the toilet the night before a snowstorm. A gifted Dungeon Master who knew how to captivate, his biggest challenge in D&D club, besides dragging the heavy bag of books and props back and forth, was coming up with ways to allow a greater than ideal number of participants in his group.

Gifted with technology, he was always available to help out with the audiovisual equipment for the theater or to work on a digital design to print on shirts or other items to give as gifts. His skills as an artist were apparent from a young age, with his early drawings turning into a passion for making whatever he could dream up. His blacksmithing business, Firefox Forgeries, was just beginning – with only a few who were lucky enough to have gotten a hand-forged steak flipper, knife, rose or other item from his shop.

Liam was the kindest of souls, and unabashedly himself. He had a way of perceiving what others needed from him and being there to listen or to give advice way beyond his years. Not everyone understood him; and for those who didn’t, they will never realize what a loss that was. Those that took the time to get to know him will be the better for it, always.

His family and friends will miss him terribly.

Arrangements are entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center (506-869-2007).

In keeping with his family’s wishes, there will be a private service in his memory on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation or other in-kind offering to Diabetes Canada, Atlantic Wellness, or other charity of your choice.
