Jacqueline “Jackie” Louise Cullen

March 27, 1963  –  March 18, 2026

With broken hearts, we regret to inform you of the passing of Jacqueline “Jackie” Louise Cullen on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. She embarked on her next journey surrounded by the love of her dear children, spouse, and sisters.

Jackie was born on March 27, 1963, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was the firstborn of the late James “Jim” Cullen and Louise Somers. At age 7, she and her family moved to Riverview, New Brunswick, where she remained until she graduated high school. It was there that she would first meet Alan Cochrane, her future husband, at McDonalds on Mountain Road.

A true Nova Scotian at heart, Jackie lived and worked for a number of years in Halifax before eventually moving back to Riverview, marrying Alan and raising her family there. She had a long career with Omista Credit Union, eventually transferring to her forever place, Halifax, where she worked at Teachers Plus Credit Union before moving to East Coast Credit Union. It was there, in Halifax, where she met her loving spouse, her rock, Don.

Jackie’s empathy, warmth, and soft heart attracted people and pets alike. She was always up for fun, with a silly sense of humour, an amazing ability to mimic any accent, an incredible knowledge of music and pop culture, and most of all, an irrepressible, contagious laugh. She put goodness and kindness out into the world, and she approached everything she did in life with joy, gratitude and optimism.

She faced challenges with remarkable grace and quiet determination, which rested on deep inner strength and strong faith.

Gifted with creativity, Jackie’s many hobbies included creating beautiful paintings, scrapbooks, cross stitch, and clothes – including amazing Halloween costumes (especially the ones she lovingly made for her kids). She recently took up crochet and within weeks, had crafted toques and other creations that she generously gave to loved ones. She had also taken up the fiddle in recent years, and it’s safe to say that, with a little time, she would have mastered that, too.

An avid adventurer and beachgoer, she was always up for a thrifting day, a trip to Crystal Crescent, or an expedition farther afield to search for sea glass. She treasured the days spent at her cottage, travelling, and spending time with her loved ones.

She is survived by so, so many people who loved her: her children Kyla, Colin, and “other kid” Sarah, spouse Don, sisters Angela (Doug), Michele (Brian), bonus sister Heather (Rick), stepson James (Sacha), stepdaughter Vanessa, her beloved grandkids Daniel and Dominic, and Gabriel, sisters-in-law Julie (Michael) and Elizabeth (Rick), niece Samantha and nephew Michael and the father of her children, Alan. She is also survived by her brother Steve. An avid dog lover, she will be sadly missed by her best pal Bogart.

She was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Louise.

Jackie’s family and friends are blessed with the wonderful memories we created with her. We will carry with us forever the care and love she gave us.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the People for Animal Well-Being (PAW) or Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

Jackie’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff on 4.1 at the Halifax Infirmary for everything they did for her during her courageous fight.

Relatives and friends are invited to Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton, NB (506-858-1995) for visitation on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 52 Falkland Street, Moncton, NB.

In honour of our precious Jackie, we invite you to wear a touch of purple – her favourite colour – as we remember her.
