1934 – 2026
Ian Urquhart Mearns, 91, of Moncton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at the Villa Du Repos in Moncton.
Born in Toronto, ON, he was the son of the late James and Flora (Urquhart) Mearns.
Ian retired from Moncton Chrysler Dodge after 30 years as service Manager. After his initial retirement he worked a few more jobs in the auto industry until he finally decided to slow down. Once finally retired, he had several hobbies but his favorites were golfing and wood working.
In addition of his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Catherine (1997); sisters, Elizabeth Halkett and Barbara Mearns and daughter-in-law, Dana (Marsh) Mearns.
Ian is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Karen (Gary) Thibodeau, Maureen (Gordon) Anderson and son, Stephen Mearns; grandchildren, Cory (Sarah) Thibodeau, Darby (Tammy) Thibodeau, Chad (Courtney) Anderson, Brooke (Dan) Anderson, Caitlyn (Omar) Mearns and also by great grandchildren.
In keeping with Ian’s wishes, there will be no public services held. There will be an interment at Elmwood Cemetery at a later date.
