1932 ~ 2026
Moncton, N.-B. – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elsie Richard, 94, of Manoir Notre-Dame, that occurred on Monday, June 8th, 2026, at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Upper Nappan, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Baxter and the late Jessie (Bacon) Baxter.
Elsie taught at school for a while at a young age and then worked at Eaton’s Credit Office in Moncton for several years.
She will be sadly missed by her three children: Catherine (Ronald) Grenier of Sussex, Nancy L. (Daniel) Girvan of Moncton, and Michael (Jocelyne) Richard of Dieppe; her stepson, David (Rosa) Murphy of Dieppe; her two grandchildren: Amanda (Andrew) Adam, and Jason Grenier; her daughter-in-law, Edna Murphy of Moncton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard Richard (February 2026); her stepson, Robert Murphy; and her siblings: Leita, Dorothy, Donald, Leslie, Ernest, Guy, and Arnold Jr.
Visitation will be held at Passage-Chartersville Funeral Home on Thursday, June 11th, from 2 to 3:30 pm only, followed by prayers and a reception.
If desired, a donation in Elsie’s memory can be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).
