August 5, 1960 – November 2, 2026
Surrounded by his family, Denis Joseph Doucette passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 2. He was 66.
He is survived by the love of his life, Patsy, to whom he was married for 45 years; his two children, Richard and Tracy; and his three grandchildren, Claire, Remi, and Austin. He will be greatly missed by many longtime friends and extended family.
Denis was always a respected member of the sports community in Moncton. A huge fan of both hockey and baseball, it was only fitting that you would often find him sharpening skates or chatting with customers, coffee in hand. During his 15 years as the owner of Maritime Sports and Repair, he was fortunate to witness many athletes grow up as they returned season after season.
Aside from sports, he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially at van meets and later at the campground where they spent their summers. His laugh could often be heard many sites away. He was always happy to chat, lend a helping hand, or simply sit and listen to music countdowns on weekend radio. His absence will be deeply felt among his camping neighbours.
Always looking for a project, Denis enjoyed leathercraft, woodworking, and building models. He would spend hours in his workshop creating furniture and décor pieces, giving many as gifts or using them at home. He was a creative perfectionist, often scrapping projects and starting anew until he had them just right. He believed that you should take pride in your work, no matter the task.
The family would like to express immense gratitude to the team of Extra-Mural nurses who worked hard to help him stay at home, where he was comfortable. Their kindness throughout this difficult time will never be forgotten.
There will be no public service or visitation, as per the family’s wishes. Arrangements are entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home & Fergusons Crematorium, 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton, NB (506-858-1995).
