Calixte Losier

1939 ~ 2026

Moncton, N.B. – It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Calixte Losier, 86, on May 10, 2026, at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital in Moncton.

Calixte was originally from Rivière à la Truite. He moved to Dieppe with his family in 1987. He spent the last 13 years of his career in human resources at the Université de Moncton. Prior to that, he worked in the same field at the provincial and federal levels. He was also deeply involved in his community. He served as chairman of the board of directors of the Coopérative de Dieppe and sat on the board of directors of the Réseau de vie Confort. Among other roles, he was a member of the University of Moncton’s retirees’ committee. A lifelong music lover, he was a member of the Neil Michaud Choir for many years, with which he performed in numerous concerts. This experience allowed him to travel the world with his wife, Claudia.

A nature lover, he particularly enjoyed fishing and spending time tending his garden. Among his other pastimes, he also loved playing cards, dominoes, and Scrabble, especially with his family.

Calixte is the son of the late Euchariste Losier and the late Sara Brideau. He is survived by his three sons: Serge (Francine), André (Amber), and Marc (Alice); his daughter Martine (Matthew); his nine grandchildren: Cassandra, Stéphanie, Sylvain, Jocelyn, Nathan, Cynthia, Patrick, Mathieu, and Gabrielle; and his two great-grandchildren, Maya and Miguel, whom he loved so dearly. He is also survived by his sister, Sister Gisèle, R.H.S.J., and his brothers Jean-Paul (Hélène), Gilles (Mary), Léonce (Claudette), and Denis (Raymonde), as well as several nephews and nieces, numerous cousins, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded by his wife, Claudia Losier, as well as his brothers: Luc, Albert, Gérald, and Guy; and his sisters: Sister Imelda, Lorette, and Denise.

Visitation will take place at the Passage-Chartersville Funeral Cooperative, located at 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe (N.B.), at 506-857-1901, on Friday, May 15, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Saint Anselme Church. A reception will follow at the Passage-Chartersville Funeral Cooperative.
