Bernard Surette

1949 ~ 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bernard Surette, 76, on Monday, March 16th, 2026, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton.

Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Eloi and the late Rita Surette (Bourque).

Bernard will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Patricia; his two sons: Matthieu of Dieppe and Justin of Saint John; his sister, Darlene Boudreau of Alberta; several nieces and nephews, as well as many loving family members and friends.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers: Jean-Charles, Paul (Bernice), as well as his infant brother, Georges.

Bernard bravely lived with cancer from 2003 until his passing, facing each day with strength and faith. He dedicated 36 years of his life to Transport Canada, a career he truly loved and took great pride in. Above all, he was a supportive husband and father, deeply involved in his sons’ lives and always present for their activities, including hockey, baseball, and soccer, creating lasting memories. Known for his big heart, Bernard had a special love for children, and they were naturally drawn to his warmth and kindness. In his free time, he enjoyed music and loved to dance, bringing joy and energy wherever he went.

The family would like to thank the Blanche-Bourgeois Extra Mural nurses for the excellent care they provided Bernie since 2020, Dr Andre Barrieau and Dr Ronald Robichaud for their longtime care.  Also, would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Palliative Care at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital for their compassionate care.

Visitations will be held at Passage ~ Chartersville (363 Amirault Street, Dieppe) on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 7:00pm until 9:00pm. A funeral service will take place at Saint-Anselme RC Church in Dieppe on Monday, March 23rd, 2026, at 11:00am.
