Shediac, NB – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Goguen, 86, on Sunday, April 26th, 2026.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Gérald and the late Herminie (Gagnon) Goguen.
Prior to his retirement, he had worked 10 years with NB Tel and 27 years with CBC. Alfred was a devoted Catholic and member of St-Joseph Parish in Shediac.
Alfred and Marie traveled extensively and enjoyed playing cards with friends. He was known for having a sweet tooth, favouring anything chocolate. Being a jack of all trades, many household items were repaired in his shop with care and expertise.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Marie (Bourgeois) Goguen; by his daughter, Monique Goguen of Ottawa; by his son, Michel Goguen (Daniela Di Saverio-Goguen) of Ottawa; by his grandchildren: Alex and Marco; by his brother, Léonard Goguen (Odette Landry) of Dieppe; the extended Bourgeois family, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from Passage, 3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge, NB, (506) 532-1050, on Thursday, April 30th, 2026, from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm only.
Funeral mass will be held from St-Joseph RC Church, 415 Main Street, Shediac, NB, on Friday, May 1st, 2026, at 11 am.
Burial will take place in Passage Columbarium, Shediac Bridge, NB.
In his memory, a donation can be made to the Vestiaire St-Joseph in Shediac or to the Canadian Cancer Society “Pancreatic cancer”.
