A new record high temperature was set in Greater Moncton on Thursday.
Environment Canada says the thermometer climbed to 31.5°C at the airport which beats the old record of 30.6°C from 1929.
Records in the area go back to 1881.
Nine other communities in New Brunswick also set new record highs.
By mid-afternoon, the humidex had hit 50 in Miramichi before the humidity level dropped.
Thanks to fog, it was much cooler along the Fundy coast with a high of only 15°C in Saint John.
The hot spot in the province and all of Canada was 36°C in Red Pines near Bathurst.
