A new poll suggests federal NDP Leader Tom Mulcair would have a more positive effect on the economy than any other leader.
That comes despite continuous attempts by the ruling Conservatives to burnish their economic stewardship credentials.
The Nanos Research Poll shows 47 percent preferred Mulcair, with 41 percent choosing Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, and only 31.7 percent choosing Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
However, 24 percent of respondents believed the Conservatives would be the best party to manage the economy, with the NDP 4 points behind at 20 percent, and the Liberals in a distant third at 13.5 percent.
The Conservatives fired back at the poll results, suggesting now was not the time to try risky experimental economic policies.
