The New Brunswick Medical Society is pleased with the province’s creation of the Council on Aging.
CEO Anthony Knight says it’s necessary because New Brunswick leads the country with the number of seniors in the population.
“We believe that the Council on Aging will play a crucial role aligning our systems that exist to support our seniors for the future,” says Knight.
He adds seniors expect and deserve enhanced care and supports in their community.
“Whether it’s things they can do to enable positive contribution to the community, be healthier, or to receive the best healthcare available in our healthcare system,” says Knight.
He adds the two co-chairs, Ken McGeorge, interim executive director of the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick and Suzanne Dupuis-Blanchard associate professor of nursing in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Community Services at the Université de Moncton are very qualified and well suited to lead the Council on Aging.
