NEB Chairman Calls Energy East Pipeline Application “Tough Decision”

National Energy Board Chairman Peter Watson says the decision surrounding the application from TransCanada regarding the Energy East Pipeline Project will be a tough one.

Watson says a lot of people walk through the doors of the National Energy Board and tell him the Energy East Pipeline project should go through, or the project must never go.

He says evaluating whether the benefits outweigh the burdens for the country is a tough situation to be in.

Watson says the interests of the NEB are completely aligned with communities and regions of the country, and about assuring public safety and environmental protection.

He says public hearings will be held and dates will be decided within the next few months.
