NBTA Disappointed With Teaching Cuts In Provincial Budget

There’s mixed reaction from the New Brunswick Teachers Association in response to yesterday’s provincial budget.

President Guy Arseneault says education is being protected, to a point, “We’re encouraged that the Gallant government is making education a priority. I am a little disappointed with the loss of 50 teaching positions. It is a cause for great concern.”

He says these cuts are going to have an impact on the students, because the system is already under resourced.

Arseneault says they will have a hard time meeting the growing needs of students, because a reduction of teachers could mean an impact on the various supports offered in the classroom.
