The Provincial Nurses Union is working with the regional health authorities to make sure they are ready to handle any threat from Ebola.
President Marilyn Quinn tells us during the SARS crisis ten years ago they were not prepared enough and they don’t want to make that mistake again.
She says they learn with every case like the nurse in Dallas, gaps in care are being noticed and so they have to back and look at the current policies and say “are they enough and will they protect people”?
Quinn says nurses union is having good discussions with both the Department of Healtha and with representatives from Horizon.
She adds the situation is unfolding so nurses and all health professionals need to make sure they are prepared.
