Federal Gov’t Buys Blue Star Ithaki For Saint John To Digby Ferry Route

The MV Princess of Acadia officially has a successor. The federal government buying passenger ferry MV Blue Star Ithaki to replace the Princess which serves the Saint John to Digby ferry route.

The Ithaki was built in 2000 and can accomodate over 1300 passengers and has a garage capacity of 245 according to Blue Star Ferries. It’s 124 meters long and 19 metres wide with a cruising speed of 20 knots.

The ship was purchased by the government at a cost of approximately $44.6-million Canadian.
