Students and staff at New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) will lend a helping hand in their communities on Wednesday.
Hundreds will take part in the college’s ninth Service Day called #TransformNB.
It is held twice a year by NBCC’s Robertson Institute for Community Leadership.
Amanda Bent, the institute’s coordinator, said it is a chance for students and staff to work on projects which will transform lives.
“Over the first eight Service Days, students and staff have worked on over 895 projects and contributed over 46,000 hours,” said Bent.

Dozens of projects will take place in communities throughout the province.
Some volunteers in Saint John will help the Children’s Wish Foundation prepare for their upcoming Princess Tea Party, while in Moncton, some will go with CNIB clients on a walk around Dobson Trail.
Bent said the initiative is also a way for students to build skills which will help them personally and professionally.
“Teamwork, communication, problem-solving, as well as learning that they have something they can give back to our communities,” she said. “That’s a big piece that we really encourage and hope that our students here at NBCC learn.”
In some cases, Bent said students and staff continue to volunteer with the organization beyond Service Day.
