The Director of the New Brunswick Student Alliance Lindsay Handren is not surprised by the report showing the positive economic impact of U-N-B to the province, estimated at 1.2 billion dollars a year.
There are fears the provincial government will be making cuts to universities when provincial budget is unveiled next year and Handren shares those concerns. She’s pessimistic the provincial government will have a channge of heart and not make cuts to post secondary education.
Handren points out New Brunswick ranks 8th among the provinces in public funding for universities and warns a university education is becoming less affordable.
