NB Speaker Says Legislature Has Different Feel With Liberals In Power

Life has changed for Moncton Centre MLA Chris Collins, since he stepped into the role of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick.

He says there’s one thing in particular that he’s very proud of since the Liberals took power.

While the House is in session in the Legislature, it is now a completely different experience, “In the last year and a bit, we have virtually eliminated heckling in the Legislature. The tone is entirely different than it has been in the past 15 or 20 years. We don’t tolerate bullying in the workplace, so why should we tolerate it in the Legislature.”

Collins says this is to the credit of all three parties that are reprented in the House and on both sides of the Legislature.
