While you were getting ready for school and work this morning, NB Power saw a huge spike in the need for electricity because of the cold snap.
Meghan Gerrish of NB Power says they need alternate sources of energy to meet that demand .
She says on these very cold days they do run Coleson Cove and Millbank which adds another 600 megawatts to the grid.
At it’s peak, NB Power Customers were drawing over 3000 megawatts from the grid and its drops off during the day but peaks again at suppertime.
On an average day in June they might use 1200 megawatts.
