New Brunswickers are being challenged to save energy and win prizes in a new contest from NB Power.
Metro Moncton will be pitted against Greater Fredericton in a friendly competition called “Beat the Peak”.
NB Power spokesperson Brent Staeban says the community with the most energy-saving acts could help their local YMCA win $10,000.
Staeban says some of the changes could include turning down the heat by a couple degrees, taking a shorter shower, switching to LED lightbulbs and running large appliances such as a dishwasher during off-peak hours.
Simply head to the website www.beatthepeak.ca starting next Monday, January 19 and register to take part in the contest.
