NB Power Applies To Raise Rates

NB Power wants to raise electricity rates next year by 2 per cent.

The utility has filed an application with the Energy and Utilities Board. The rate increase would apply to all customer classes and would take effect on July 1st of next year.

NB Power claims, even with that increase, electricity rates in New Brunswick will still be lower than anywhere else in Atlantic Canada.

It’s believed a 2 per cent increase will result in additional revenue for NB Power to the tune of 21 million dollars.
