The New Brunswick Association for Community Living is trying to raise awareness about a plan which helps disabled people and their families save money for the future.
The federal government unveiled Registered Disability Savings Plans a few years ago but even some financial institutions are still not familiar with them.
Spokesperson Julia McCloskey says once you open an RDSP, you may also be eligible for grants and bonds
“The federal government may be able to put bonds in your plan regardless of whether you can contribute to the plan yourself,” she notes.
The Government of Canada through Community Living is offering free presentations on the web on Friday, one in English and another in French.
NBACL is offering free Webinars on Friday, June 24: in English, 9 to 11 am, and in French, 1 to 3 pm.
All you’ll need is a computer with internet service and speakers or a headphone set to hear the presentation.
Another option is a one-on-one session with a qualified facilitator.
These sessions can be arranged in person, over the telephone or via internet, whichever is most convenient for you.
Register now to get more info on the RDSP by calling 1-866-622-2548, Option 2, or e-mail Rebecca Pilson at rpilson@nbacl.nb.ca.
