Motorcyclists Eagerly Anticipating Better Cruising Weather

Many Maritime motorcycle riders are getting “itchy feet” to hit the road.

However, spring conditions are late arriving and Steve Kee of the Insurance Bureau of Canada says bikers need to be patient and play it safe.

“You may not be able to stop the way you would on an absolute dry road, and then there’s also potholes that will develop over a bad winter – you’ve got to watch what you’re riding on,” says Kee.

Kee says some safety tips apply including wearing the proper helmet and reflective protective clothing.

“I think as a rider you have to assume that people in cars can’t see you and if they dart across you have nowhere to go,” says Kee.

He says taking a safety refresher course beforehand is good practice.
