Moncton Public Library Thriving.

The Moncton Public Library is doing quite well, and is even thriving.

Diane Ross is the Chairperson of the Moncton Public Library Board.

She says in 2013, public libraries were no longer required to pay property taxes, but the City let our library keep those funds to be used for improvements.

“The latest improvements include the addition of slat wall end panels on library shelves for a better display of the collection, wifi access point upgrades, and additional furniture,” says Ross.

With 200,000 visitors each year, one of their most popular programs is the “Makerspace” which is a place where people gather to share knowledge, resources and tools to accomplish projects.

Library Director Chantale Bellemare says the Makerspace has become an incubator for creativity, new ideas, entertainment and education that the City of Moncton can feel proud to have supported.
