Moncton Man Faces More Charges In Fatal Crash

A Moncton man accused of fleeing a fatal hit and run crash in Kent County now faces a total of six charges.

In Moncton court today, 32-year-old Ronald James Fairweather faced two charges of leaving the scene of a crash in addition to four other offences including failing to stop at an accident causing death and operating a vehicle in a dangerous manner.

On Friday afternoon, RCMP apprehended Fairweather without a problem at his home on Cedar Street after a judge issued an arrest warrant.

Mounties say a man driving a stolen truck collided with a vehicle in Bass River on New Year’s Day.

A 19-year-old man driving the vehicle was killed while two other men were sent to hospital with serious injuries.

Fairweather remains in custody and returns to court for a bail hearing Wednesday afternoon.
