A Moncton man is facing nine charges after Mounties seized a firearm and drugs.
RCMP say a man was arrested Tuesday (November 30) without incident in a parking lot near Mountain Road as part of an ongoing firearms investigation in Moncton.
Later in the day, officers and the police dog carried out a search warrant at an apartment on Dominion Street.
Items seized included a firearm, ammunition, a quantity of suspected cocaine and drug equipment.
On Wednesday, 34-year-old Edgar Manuel Gomez appeared in Moncton provincial court and was charged with the following offences:
- three counts of failing to comply with a condition of a release order
- possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes
- unauthorized possession of a firearm
- possession of a firearm when knowing the possession is unauthorized
- possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence or registration
- unsafe storage of a firearm
- failure to comply with a probation order
Gomez is being held in custody and returns to court on Monday.
