Saturday is a day set aside for International Survivors of Suicide Loss and an event is being held in Moncton to help those deal with their grief.
Robyn Greene lost her oldest daughter Alanna to suicide in 2012 and she organized the event knowing so many people have nowhere to turn for help.
Greene says she and her family attended a similar event shortly after their loss.
“I found it so healing. It helped me to understand the many feelings I was dealing with in my grief and the guilt and so on. It helped to know that I was not alone in what I was feeling,” he notes.
The Survivor Day event will include the screening of a short film, presentations by suicide loss survivors and mental health professionals and messages to loved ones on sky lanterns will be released over the Petitcodiac River.
This free event will be held at the Rodd Moncton Hotel on Main Street on Saturday afternoon (November 19) from 2 until 6pm.>
