Moncton Construction Off To Slow Start In 2018

The first quarter of this year turned out to be sluggish for building activity in the City of Moncton.

The total value of building permits was about $18 million compared to about $61 million during the same period a year ago.

Commercial activity led the way including an expansion at Moncton Honda and a new auto dealership on Lewisville Road followed by construction of a new apartment building on Lady Russell Street.

Economic Development Director Kevin Silliker expects some larger projects in the second quarter will bring back activity levels that we have seen in recent years.

Silliker adds he is eager to see upcoming activity in the downtown around the new Events Centre.
