Metro Moncton Firefighters Need Help To Clear Hydrants

Tuesday, February 10 is your last day to enter a contest to win a $50 smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector.

All you have to do is clean off your closest fire hydrant and take a selfie and post it on Facebook or Twitter to be eligible to win.

The contest is being run by Jason Surrette, the founder of a local charity called Big Hearts, Small City.

He says the importance of clear hydrants cannot be overstated.

“When seconds count, it’s very important that hydrants are totally accessible because if there is a fire, firefighters need to get to that hydrant as soon as possible.”

Surrette says you must take a selfie and use the hashtags #hydrantSelfieMoncton, #hydrantSelfieRiverview and #hydrantSelfieDieppe to be able to win or you can post photos on our fan page directly or on twitter using those hashtags.

Submissions must be received by 5-pm Tuesday.
