Mayoral Candidate Dawn Arnold Has No Doubt Former Moncton High Will Be Saved

Dawn Arnold chose not to attend this morning’s invitation to the front steps of Moncton High, because she felt there was a lack of clarity as to who was organizing the event.

Local businessman and graduate from Moncton High John Staples sent out invites to both Arnold and Brian Hicks, the two candidates who are running for Mayor.

She did post a statement on the vision of Moncton High on her Facebook page, and our newsroom also had the chance to speak with her about it.

She says she shares the same concerns about the former high school as Monctonians do, “I am 100 per cent behind renovating, refurbishing and making this an important part of our community. I’ve been clear on that since the very beginning, and I have no doubt that the old Moncton High will saved.”

During her campaign, she has been knocking on doors, and has heard many comments from citizens, “People are in agreement that we need to create a space that we can be proud of, but they also feel, in order to achieve this, they expect the Mayor and Council to be smart, forward thinking and fiscally responsible during the decision making process.”

Arnold says she agrees it needs to have a community centre component to it, but says what it will look like, no one knows at this point.
