Mayoral Candidate Brian Hicks Expresses Hope For Old Moncton High

The invitation to speak on the front steps of the old Moncton High was accepted by one Mayoral candidate.

Brian Hicks accepted the invitation from local businessman and Moncton High graduate John Staples and gave a statement earlier today.

Hicks says from the comments he has received after knocking on doors around the city, he believes there is only one option that is favoured for the building, and it’s not a U-Haul, “They would like to see a living breathing building like this going 18 hours a day with shows at night. There’s no question what proposal they would like to see. They’d like the MH35 proposal.”

He feels this is a plan that has to be worked on by the provincial government and the city together…Hicks says the MH35 proposal isn’t before the province right now, all they have is the one for U-Haul.

Hicks says if he is elected Mayor, they’re going to speed this along, “There are Councillors who really want to speed this along. There are Ward Councillors who are very supportive of the MH35 proposal.”
