Man and woman convicted in N.B. child offences case

A man and a woman from northern New Brunswick have been found guilty in a child sexual offences case, according to the RCMP.

Police said the investigation began in March 2023 after the RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit and Campbellton RCMP received information about offences in Val d’Amour.

Officers searched a home on June 28, 2023, where a 46‑year‑old man and a 47‑year‑old woman were arrested.

Several electronic devices were seized as part of the investigation. Both individuals were later released on conditions while awaiting court proceedings.

The pair were charged in August 2024 with two counts of invitation to sexual touching, sexual interference, sexual assault, uttering threats and exhibitions.

A jury trial began on May 25, 2026, in the court of king’s bench in Campbellton.

Police said the 46‑year‑old man was found guilty on June 15 of two counts of invitation to sexual touching, sexual interference, sexual assault, uttering threats and exhibitions.

The RCMP said the 47‑year‑old woman was found guilty the same day of sexual interference, sexual assault, uttering threats, and exhibitions.

Both were remanded into custody following the verdicts.

They are scheduled to return to court for sentencing on August 27.
