Liberal Leader Brings Campaign To Saint John

Provincial Liberal leader Brian Gallant has been criticised by Premier David Alward by calling for a moratorium on shale gas development. Gallant is campaigning in Saint John to get the message across that he supports responsible development of the province’s natural resources.

Gallant says he has supported the Energy East pipeline from day one and would try to persuade energy companies from out west to make investments in the province in order to generate more jobs.

Gallant also says he supports the oil export terminal and L-N-G export terminal. Alward has questioned how he could support a terminal for exporting natural gas when he doesn’t support developing a domestic supply of natural gas through shale gas exploration.

He’s also proposing changes to make economic development more accountable and measurable. Another pledge is a tax credit for seniors and their families which Gallant says is aimed at keeping them in their homes for as long as possible.
