Insurance Industry Telling Governments Our Infrastructure Needs Upgrading

Our aging infrastructure has to be upgraded to deal with extreme weather…….John Bordignon of State Farm Insurance says that’s the message from the insurance industry to federal, provincial and municipal governments in the aftermath of the damage caused last Wednesday when more than 160 millimeters of rain fell on parts of southern New Brunswick.

Bordignon says climate change is the new reality.

The Canadian Hurricane Centre was concerned what would happen if Hurricane Joaquin drenched Atlantic Canada with large amounts of rain on ground already saturated from Wednesday’s deluge but Joaquin is tracking well south of Nova Scotia.

Over the weekend, more than 400 millimeters of rain fell on Myrtle Beach and over 300 millimeters on Charleston, South Carolina.
