Prison officials at the Atlantic Institution in Renous say an inmate was assaulted over the weekend.
The inmate was found hurt shortly after 9 o’clock Sunday morning and was taken to hospital for treatment.
RCMP are investigating with prison officials who say those responsible for the assault have been identified and appropriate action has been taken.
No other inmates or staff were hurt in the incident.
