Hurricane Dorian Knocks Out Power For Thousands

High winds and heavy rain are taking their toll as Hurricane Dorian moved through the region on Saturday night.

Sustained winds up to 80 kilometres an hour brought down several trees often on power lines.

Power outages leaving more than 50,000 NB Power customers in the dark with most in the Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe cluster where over 30,000 residents were off the grid.

Outages were also reported on Saturday night in locations like Sussex, Barnesville, Upham, Belleisle, Hampton, Willow Grove and Baxter’s Corner.

In Charlotte county, more than 1000 homes and businesses lost power early Saturday night in Bocabec, Rollingdam, Chance Harbour, St. George and Dipper Harbour.

The storm bringing a lot of trees, power lines and poles down all over the region.
