The second-degree murder trial of Dennis Oland hearing from a forensic identification officer that there were hundreds of spatter stains radiating from the large pool of blood that the battered body of Richard Oland was laying in in his uptown Saint John office.
Sergeant Mark Smith of the Saint John police going through photos of various stains that appear to be blood in Far End Corporation—including stains on Richard Oland’s desk, on paperwork, a lamp, a remote and more. Smith, describing a close-up photo of Richard Oland’s head, saying there’s a large amount of trauma, protruding skull, and what appeared to be tissue, blood and hair on the back of his sweater.
Smith saying that he was able to identify Richard Oland through a wallet found in the pocket of his pants—there was a drivers license in there and a number of bank cards and credit cards as well.
He testifies on July 9 he had a conversation and it was determined a blood stain analyst from Nova Scotia was going to be provided for them. Richard Oland’s body was discovered on July 7.
It’s expected Smith will be back on the stand Friday.
