High Number Of Calls To Kids Help Phone From New Brunswick

More and more children in New Brunswick reach for the phone when they are in need of someone to talk to.

Director for Kids Help Phone in Atlantic Canada Shelley Richardson says the statistics are startling.

She says, “In all of the years I’ve been with Kids Help Phone, the use of the service by the children in New Brunswick has always been disproportionately high to the Canadian population. It represents 2.6 per cent of all of the calls or contacts to Kids Help Phone from the children in New Brunswick.”

Children and youth between the ages of 5 and 20, contact Kids Help Phone for a variety of reasons including being embarrassed, or feeling they are unable to reach out to someone they know, or if they are in a crisis situation.
