Education is the key to encouraging our children to eat better.
The Anglophone East School District is making changes to offer healthier options in its school cafeterias.
Director of Finance and Administration Aubrey Kirkpatrick says their cafeterias will move away from pre-made and pre-packaged foods to those that are made fresh.
A focus will be put on fresh, local, healthy, colourful and sometimes organic.
He says part of the program to educate children on healthy food choices will be encourage farm to school projects, and also having farmers and Chefs in to visit.
Kirkpatrick says it will be a slow process, but he has already heard some positive feedback from schools, about the positive choices that students are making.
