Group Calls For Research, Regulation Of E-Cigarettes

More research and putting regulations in place. That’s what the Heart and Stroke Foundation is calling for when it comes to E-Cigarettes in Canada. Senior Health Policy Analyst Lesley James says there are too many unknowns. She says, “Sometimes these are marketed as an alternative to smoking and the research hasn’t yet proven that there is a cessation benefit to these, so until we know the actual benefits, we would like them to be regulated to protect Canadians from potential harm.” The group is looking for policies to be put in place by the Federal Government to ban e-cigarette use in public places, prohibit sales to minors and funds for further research.
