Greater Moncton Airport Prepares For Further Growth

The Greater Moncton Romeo LeBlanc International Airport has undergone a major transformation in recent years.

The airport’s new master plan covering the next two decades shows more room for growth.

Marcel Champagne is an airport planner with SNC-Lavalin, the firm hired to prepare a twenty year vision.

Champagne says major upgrades have occurred at the airport since the last master plan.

“The completion of the air terminal building that was finished in 2002. Since then, there has been significant investments here at the airport. The runway has been extended. And there has been upgrades to different parts of the facilities over time,” he notes.

More than 665,000 passengers were welcomed at the Greater Moncton Airport last year and that number is expected to climb to one million passengers in the next twenty years.

Community feedback is currently being sought on the airport’s new master plan and those comments will be included in a final report due this summer.
