Graphic Demonstration On Why Pets And Children Should Not Be Left In Hot Cars

You can see a social experiment on You Tube showing how fast the inside of a car can heat up on a hot day.

Homestar, located in the Saint John area, and Ghost Fire Media teamed up to graphically demonstrate why children and pets should not be left inside a hot car even for just a few minutes.

Kevin Ryan of Homestar was inside a car with the windows shut. The temperature shot up to more than 50 degrees celcius in just minutes and he began suffering from heat exhaustion. Ryan says it felt a hundred times worse than what he imagined before taking part in the experiment.

The temperature inside the car rose to 43 degrees celcius even with the windows halfway down. Your pet will enter the critical zone of heat stroke when the temperature hits 42 degrees celcius.

Since 1990, more than 600 children have died from heat stroke from being left inside hot cars.
