GMFA President Weighs In On Superbowl 51

There’s football fever in the air today. Superbowl 51 is being played tonight. It’s the New England Patriots versus the Atlantic Falcons.

Football fans are enjoying the game with friends, .and lots of food and beer are being consumed.

President of the Greater Moncton Football Association Joel Irvine says wearing the jerseys and cheering on your favourite team is what it’s all about, “For me it`s about prep work, if you are having friends over. The game is almost secondary to the whole experience of getting everyone together. Wearing the jerseys, eating the chili, cheering on the team they love or just cheering for the other team because you hate the Patriots so much.“

What else makes it exciting for him? “For me as a football fan, I want a close game. I love those games that come right down to the wire and whether it is a game winning touchdown or a field goal to win it all. When you can kick a 50 yard field goal to win the game, that’s just amazing.”

He adds, “You just want some big plays, excitement, definitely want some good offence, some nice defensive stops as well, just something that`s competitive. And the Superbowl commercials are great as well.”

Irvine says, Superbowl Sunday is greatest day of the year, other than Christmas of course.
