Funding Needed For New Shelter For Crossroads For Women

Crossroads for Women is in desperate need of more space.

In the past year, they’ve been forced to refuse more than 90 women and children who came knocking on their door and they are in need of a new facility to accommodate all women.

They’ve purchased a building, but Crossroads Board Chairman David Swansburg says they need $900, 000 to renovate.

He says, “It has a lot of the qualities that we needed and a lot of the space that we needed, but when you change a structure to best suit your needs, there’s always a cost to it.”

The shelter aids women and children who are victims of domestic violence. In the current facility women and an children are able to stay for thirty days, but in the new shelter, once completed, they’ll be able to stay for up to ninety days.

They hope to have the new shelter open by the Fall of next year.
