Around 50 people turned out to the St. Pat’s Family centre parking lot last night, to get an update on the future of the centre.
Melanie Cote from the group “Friends of St. Pat’s” says they haven’t given up hope yet.
“Now that we have awareness from the city, the province and the federal levels, so all three levels of government are involved. Now that we are all on the same page, we can start building something to see if something can be done.”
Several members of the federal, provincial and municipal governments attended last night’s meeting.
Cote says they’ll be meeting with board members in two weeks, “Meeting with the board and we will get the bylaws and see what we can do for the centre and evaluate the current situation. We just need answers rights now. We need to have an inspection done to see if it would be viable to do repairs. We don’t know those things right now, because we don’t have the power as Friends of St. Pat’s. We need to work together with the board members to see what can be done.”
