“We know we can’t keep doing things the way we have always done them. We need to be thinking about spending smarter”.
So says the President of the Canadian Medical Association, Dr. Cindy Forbes, a family doctor from Nova Scotia. She says funding for healthcare will have to change to coincide with an aging population with a demographic top up.
She says they are talking about providing each province and territiory with the additional funding they need to provide quality care to aging populations.
Dr. Forbes points out for the first time in our history, the number of seniors will outnumber children.
