Flu Shots Are Slightly Less Effective For One Strain

The Centers for Disease Control issuing an advisory to doctors that one component of the flu shot was only partially effective in fighting the H3N2 strain of the virus.

Dr. Cristin Muecke works in the New Brunswick Office of the Chief Medical Officer and tells us the C.D.C. is giving out information on what we might expect from the coming flu season.

She says that the key messages are still the doctors should still be telling their patients to receive the flu shot this season.

Dr. Muecke says it’s important to remember the influenza vaccine protects against three differents strains of the flu.

She says hear the flu tends to start in the west and travel east and there has been very little flu activity so far.
