Firefighters Respond To Distress Call On Petitcodiac River

Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe firefighters were back along the Petitcodiac River this morning, after a 911 call came in just before 11am.

Riverview Fire Chief Denis Pleau says the caller said there was someone on the river in distress.

“Apparently there was a kayaker down by the Causeway following the tide. Someone thought he was in trouble, so they called for help for him.”

Firefighters were able to make contact with the kayaker, and it turns out he was just fine.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Paul Bruens says, it isn’t often they get calls about kayakers on the Petiticodiac River, but they always respond in the case of distress calls..
