Two residents have their cats to thank for alerting them to a fire in their home.
Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Paul Bruens says they arrived on scene on Kilburn Drive, near Elmwood Drive at around 11:30 last night.
There was heavy smoke and fire on the exterior of the home.
Bruens says it was a challenging one to fight because it was an older home with an addition, and the fire had spread to the the attic.
The residents managed to get out safely….and Bruens says the cats were rescued by firefighters.
It took firefighters around two hours to get the fire under control..but the home is extensively damaged.
There’s no word on a cause yet.
