Federal Research Dollars Announced In Moncton

Apex Industries on Millennium Boulevard has received a funding boost from the federal government.

Ed Holder – Canada’s minister of state for science and technology – visited Moncton to announce more than $122,000 to help support the development of two innovative projects.

Holder says small businesses such as Apex have an impact both here and away.

“Both locally here in Moncton but all across the value chain. We talked about the impact of various decisions that government makes have an impact on not only the firm that does one piece but also the feeder industries that are associated with them.”

Holder also announced more than $98,000 in federal funding to support drone research in the forestry sector while in Moncton today.

The University of New Brunswick is carrying out the research with several partners including the Moncton Flight College.
